WP Theme matching an OS Templates

The open source free  Andreas web templates are among my favourites. I used the Andreas06 open source web template 2 years ago because it had several page template options.

I was planning to make a blog for that site, so I was thrilled to discover that someone had modified the site template to create a matching WordPress theme called wp-andreas06. I had personalised all the graphics already, so it was dead simple to use those graphics to make the blog theme match.

Sadly, the owner of the website (a client of mine) isn’t very web savy and hasn’t even looked at it. It’s a bit sad, because he enjoys writing lettters to the editor in our local paper. On the other hand, it gives me an idea for another blog entry…keeping up with technology!

Choosing a WP Theme

I recently installed blogs for several friends and clients. I’ve gone to some length to upload a few themes for them to use (since they can’t access the server themselves). It did not occur to me that I was, in essence, giving them a closet full of clothes that I had picked out for them without regard to their personal taste.

I now realise that it is possible to lose your mind trying to find the right “look” for your blog. (Let alone try to figure out what someone else might want!) There are just so many options that many of us can’t really decide without trying them all out. The site pictured below currently has 110 pages with 12 themes on each page (there are so many other sites as well). That’s a lot to sort though. Who has the time?

Too many choices!

Although any free theme can be customised by those of us who have the ability to use Photoshop and upload images to the blog server, it isn’t the fastest way to go.

I have recently begun creating my own WordPress and Joomla themes. I’m really enjoying the ability to customise the look and functionality of each theme for a particular client or purpose. Get in touch if you want me to create one for you.
